Ukrainian company Kormotech plans to produce 15% of its own electricity by 2027

Leading Ukrainian pet food manufacturer Kormotech is striving to use renewable energy sources as part of its development strategy and intends to produce up to 15% of its own electricity by 2027. This was reported in an interview with the Interfax-Ukraine agency by Igor Paranyak, COO of Kormotech.

“Our strategy includes steps to introduce green energy. We have already installed a 630 kW solar power plant at our first Lithuanian plant. At the new plant in Kedainiai, Lithuania, we plan to install solar panels on the roof, using the significant existing area of about 17,000 square meters. This will be a separate project [not part of the EBRD-supported initiative], but we expect that by 2027 we will produce 15% of our own electricity,” Paranyak noted.

As previously reported, Kormotech has invested €60 million in the construction of a new wet pet food plant in Lithuania, of which €40 million was financed by the EBRD. The planned capacity of the plant will be 40,000 tons and it will create 200 jobs. The first stage is scheduled to be launched in the second quarter of 2026, and all four stages should be completed by 2028.

Kormotech is a global family company with Ukrainian roots, producing cat and dog food under the brands Optimeal, Club 4 Paws, Gav!, Miaow!. The company has production facilities in Ukraine and the EU, offering more than 650 items.

Kormotech occupies a leading position in Ukraine, is among the TOP-50 world producers of animal feed and the TOP-20 most dynamic brands of pet food. Products are sold under its own brands and brands of partners in 46 countries of the world.

The Kormotech Group of Companies ended 2024 with a turnover of 162.7 million US dollars, which is 6.5% more than in 2023. Last year, 83 thousand tons of dry and wet food for cats and dogs were sold, which is almost 7.5% more than in 2023.
