Trump's Tariffs Could Help Ukrainian Corn Producers – Experts
Reuters and Ukrinform report this.
Experts suggest that Ukrainian corn, an important component of the country's grain sector, could benefit from the U.S. tariffs because it could partially replace American corn if retaliatory measures are introduced.
Ukraine is expected to export about 22 million tons of corn this year. If large buyers impose tariffs on American corn, this will create significant opportunities for alternative suppliers. In such a situation, Ukrainian corn will be in a privileged position: competitive price, reliable logistics and strong ties with the EU and Asian markets, notes the analytical agency ASAP Agri.

Experts emphasize that although Brazil will benefit the most from these tariffs, it will not be able to fully satisfy global demand, part of which could be covered by Ukraine.
Another analytical agency, Barva Invest, points out that the US is a competitor for Ukraine in the grain market, not a trading partner. Therefore, the possible introduction of restrictions on imports from the US by other countries could significantly affect Ukraine.
Analysts believe that the EU, Australia and China will most likely introduce certain mirror restrictions, which creates strategic advantages for Ukraine, as it directly competes with the US in these markets. First of all, this concerns the corn, soybean and wheat markets, and indirectly – rapeseed, sunflower oil and barley, Barva Invest noted.
As reported by Ukrinform, Donald Trump imposed extensive tariffs on goods from US trading partners, calling it America's “Liberation Day.”
Products from Ukraine will now be subject to a 10% tariff when imported into the United States, while tariffs for many other countries are significantly higher. Retaliatory tariffs are expected to be imposed on U.S. products in various countries around the world.
