IMF chief: Trump's new tariffs pose global risks
This was stated by IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, as reported by Ukrinform.
“We are still analysing the macroeconomic implications of the announced tariff measures, but they clearly pose a significant risk to the global outlook amid weak growth,” she said.
The head of the IMF stressed that at the moment it is extremely important to avoid actions that could further harm the global economy.

“We call on the United States and its trading partners to engage constructively to reduce trade tensions and uncertainty,” Georgieva added.
She also noted that the impact of the new tariffs on the global economy will be analyzed in more detail in the upcoming World Economic Outlook report, which is due to be released later this month during the IMF and World Bank spring meetings.

As reported by Ukrinform, on April 2, Donald Trump announced the introduction of large-scale tariffs on goods from US trading partners, calling it America's “Liberation Day.”
