Zelensky: To avoid a post-war fight for Russian assets, they must be confiscated now

President Volodymyr Zelensky stresses the need to hand over frozen Russian assets to Ukraine now to avoid a fight over them after the war ends.

He announced this at a press conference dedicated to the meeting of leaders of countries on issues of support for Ukraine and security in Ere in Paris, as reported by an Ukrinform correspondent.

“We are discussing investments. There are several EU programs, as well as corresponding investments. There are investments through a tax on these frozen assets, but the most reliable option would be the ability to confiscate these assets and use them to restore what Russia has destroyed: restoring our logistics, army, building bomb shelters for children, as well as in schools, universities and hospitals, and there are many such tasks,” Zelensky noted.

In his opinion, if a way to seize these assets cannot be found, they could be used to fight the Russians after the war ends.

“I believe that if we do not find a way to return these assets, then after the war is over, we will still be fighting the Russians for these funds. So, in order to avoid future conflicts, we should take them while we have such an opportunity,” Zelensky emphasized.
