UK government unanimously takes position on Ukraine – House of Commons Speaker
This was announced by the Speaker of the House of Commons Sir Lindsay Hoyle during the Bucha 2025 summit, as reported by an Ukrinform correspondent.
“Today I came with three messages: one from the prime minister, one from the leader of the ruling party, and one from the largest opposition party. And they all said one thing: we are united in our position against Russian aggression. We cannot allow an invasion of a sovereign state. We must never allow a repeat of the events that took place in Bucha,” he said.

Sir Hoyle also expressed fears that a peace deal might never be reached and expressed confidence that Russia would not attack Ukraine, adding that European countries should be “very, very concerned”.
“We all want to see a ceasefire, but it must be lasting and meaningful. It must be long-term, because I believe that the people of Ukraine have the right to their own territory, to peace, and to their own democratically elected government. This unites us,” the speaker emphasized.
“We all want a ceasefire, but it has to be sustainable and meaningful, and I think the key word here is ‘meaningful ceasefire,’” the speaker added, reaffirming his belief that the people of Ukraine have a right to their land, to peace, and to continue working with a democratically elected government.
