Foreign Ministers of the Weimar Republic and EU Member States Agree to Increase Aid to Ukraine – Declaration

In the final document, the Weimar Group foreign ministers and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Pichi Kaja Kallas called on Russia to “an immediate and unconditional ceasefire on equal terms and with full implementation.”
They also expressed their readiness to exert further pressure on Moscow, including through the introduction of new sanctions, with the aim of providing Kyiv with “the best possible position to achieve a just and sustainable peace.”

The ministers of the Weimar Group countries announced that military, material and humanitarian support to Ukraine would be increased.
They believe that any peace agreement must be provided with reliable security guarantees for Ukraine.
Government officials also noted that they would not accept any agreements that could limit the Ukrainian defense industry or the military presence of partners on Ukrainian territory.
The Foreign Ministers stressed that they are committed to holding Russia fully accountable for war crimes in the context of the establishment of a special court within the Council of Europe.

It also stresses that Russian assets must remain frozen until Moscow ends the war and compensates Ukraine for the damage caused.
Spain is pushing its allies to use the assets as an alternative source of funding for aid to Ukraine or even to increase their own defense spending.
As reported by Ukrinform, earlier Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski discussed the most pressing issues of international politics, primarily the situation around Ukraine, with the heads of the Weimar+ format foreign policy agencies and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Kaja Kallas.
