Zelensky: EU accession talks slowing down due to one country's position

President Volodymyr Zelensky noted that the process of discussing EU accession is being delayed due to the position of one country on the issue of the expansion of the European Union.

The president announced this during a joint press conference with Czech President Petr Pavel in Kyiv, as reported by an Ukrinform correspondent.

“Unfortunately, at the moment, some discussions on EU accession are suspended, and this is due to the fact that representatives of one country are blocking all the work that Ukraine and other EU member states are doing. We believe that the European Union needs more unity, faster response and more capacity to fulfill its obligations,” Zelensky said.

He emphasized that Ukraine is fulfilling its obligations to join the EU.

As previously reported, Hungary, using the principle of unanimity in making decisions on EU expansion, is complicating the process of starting negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the Union.
