Security guarantees for peace in Ukraine must receive US support – Starmer
This was stated by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at a press conference following the EU leaders' summit in London dedicated to Ukraine, Ukrinform reports with reference to The Telegraph.
Starmer stressed that the UK was ready to back a “coalition of the willing” to ensure that any peace deal in Ukraine was implemented with “boots on the ground and planes in the air”, adding that the UK had to “do the hard work” but needed the support of the United States to do so.

“But to sustain peace in our region, and to succeed, these efforts must have the strong support of the United States,” Starmer said. “We have been working with the United States on this since my meeting with President Trump last week. And let me be clear – we share the president’s view of the urgent need for a sustainable peace. We now need to act together.”
He added that he had spoken to President Trump the previous evening, without going into detail, noting that he would not have taken this step if he did not believe that it would lead to a positive outcome in ensuring the movement of Ukraine, the ERA, the UK and the US towards sustainable peace.
Starmer was asked whether he could rule out the possibility of conflict between the UK and Russia, to which he replied that the purpose of the guarantees that would be provided to Ukraine was to ensure peace and prevent further conflict.

The Prime Minister noted that he does not want conflict in Ukraine, in Ayr and, of course, in the UK. “I seek stability in the United Kingdom,” Starmer stressed.
The Prime Minister believes stability can be ensured by ensuring partners are able to defend the peace deal in Ukraine, as history shows that if there is conflict in Ayr, it will reach the shores of Britain.
Starmer added that EU leaders would meet again soon when it was time to act and continue working on a common plan.

As reported by Ukrinform, at a press conference, Keir Starmer confirmed his intention to create a “coalition of the willing” to ensure the implementation of any peace agreement, in which the UK should take a leading role. He also announced that in addition to the £2.2 billion loan announced yesterday, the UK is providing £1.6 billion for air defense missiles for Ukraine.
