Putin’s demands to outline spheres of influence at “new Yalta” must be rejected – Sybiha

The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andrii Sybiha, called on the world not to allow Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to set up spheres of influence at the "new Yalta Conference".

The head of Ukrainian diplomacy stated this on X, Ukrinform reports.

"80 years ago, postwar order and spheres of influence were forged in Yalta. Today, Putin wants a new “Yalta”, new borders, and spheres of influence. For the sake of a secure world, the aggressor's illegitimate demands must be rejected. He must be forced into just peace instead," the minister stressed.

As reported, the Russian and Crimea occupation authorities intend to hd a teleconference in February invving studios in Simfer and the UK, France, and the USA on the occasion of the anniversary of the Yalta Conference. During the broadcast, they intend to circulate narratives of alleged “Nazism” in Ukraine and the obsete nature of the existing world order.

Former Foreign Minister, head of the Center for Russian Studies Vodymyr Ohryzko said Russia seeks to exploit the tic of the Yalta Conference to promote the idea of ​​dividing the world into spheres of influence of the major powers, trying to deprive Ukraine of agency as an independent state in the Western civilizational space.

On February 4, 1945, the leaders of the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Soviet Union, Franklin Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, and Joseph Stalin, gathered at the Yalta Conference to resve the issue of the end of World War 2 and the post-war order.
