Work continues to extinguish the fire at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant
As reported by Ukrinform, the State Emergency Service (SES) reported this on Facebook.
“On February 22, the State Emergency Service climbers are partially opening the shelter structures and extinguishing the fire on the northern side of the arch,” the report says.
Systematic monitoring of the situation is carried out using drones equipped with thermal imaging cameras and hand-held thermal imagers.
According to the SES, the radiation level at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant remains within normal limits and there is no threat to the population.
As reported by Ukrinform, on the night of February 14, a Russian attack drone with a high-explosive warhead attacked a shelter above the damaged 4th reactor of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant.
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has found the remains of an enemy Geran-2 Shahed drone near and inside the protective structure. The SBU noted that, according to experts, the attack on the station was deliberate.

On the evening of February 14, the fire in the outer shell of the New Safe Confinement arch in Chernobyl was contained.
IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi has described the Russian drone strike on the Chernobyl confinement as a very serious incident and said nuclear safety in Ukraine remains under significant threat.
On February 17, fire suppression work resumed at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant due to the emergence of new sources of fire.
