Large-scale rally in support of Ukraine held in Washington

The event was held under the motto “We are for American values, we support Ukraine,” reports a Ukrinform correspondent.

“Americans realize that our values are united – they are universal. These are the values of freedom, democracy and human rights. Therefore, here we would like to emphasize that Ukraine is now fighting for them in a difficult confrontation,” the co-organizer of the event, President of United Help Ukraine Maryna Baidyuk, noted in a comment to Ukrinform.

She added that the action opens events within the framework of the Ukraine Action Summit, which will last in Washington until April 9, as about 600 delegates from various states will contact the offices of congressmen and senators with an appeal for the need for further assistance to Ukraine. According to the activist, the action was included in the program of events, as many Americans expressed a desire to support Ukraine and stand with Ukrainians.

She stressed that the event is impartial and non-partisan, as it includes delegates from communities and non-governmental organizations representing all 50 US states.

The head of the Missouri and Montana delegations, Marichka Khliten, in turn, noted that the participants came to the Lincoln Memorial with various messages addressed to the American authorities. At the same time, attention is focused on the recent murders of Ukrainian children and civilians by Russia. In this context, she emphasized that ceasefire negotiations at a time when the Russians are demonstrating a position of strength are completely unacceptable.

“We certainly agree with US President Donald Trump's view on peace through force, but the conditions must be set at least jointly by Ukraine and America. Russia constantly violates signed agreements, and our goal is to convey that the Russians cannot be trusted,” the activist noted.

Specific messages were also addressed to the US Congress, as Russian propaganda is trying to infiltrate the main legislative body.

“So the Ukraine Action Summit itself will include informing congressmen and senators about the facts that show that Russia is not fulfilling the agreements and that this should be expected in the future,” the activist noted.
