First Lady: 52% of Ukrainian students need psychological intervention

Approximately 52% of students in Ukraine need psychological support of varying degrees.

First Lady Yena Zelenska announced this at a meeting with representatives of 30 educational institutions participating in the All-Ukrainian mental health program “How are you?”, as reported by Ukrinform.

“In February, the How Are You? program conducted a survey among teachers and students from 29 universities. Almost a third of teachers showed signs of latent burnout, 16% have symptoms of burnout, expressed in emotional detachment, cynicism and frustration. Another 18% show a tendency to avoid work tasks, procrastinate and lose motivation. Only 35% believe that they are able to cope with stress. A survey among students revealed that about 52% need intervention of varying intensity,” Zelenskaya emphasized.

During the event, it was noted that 97% of higher education institutions already provide psychological assistance services, 52 specialists from universities have been trained at the Academy of Mental Health, and 20 managers have mastered the skills of providing first psychological aid.

As reported by Ukrinform, the All-Ukrainian mental health program “How are you?” was launched at the initiative of the first lady Yena Zelenska. Its goal is to create a high-quality system of services in the field of psychosocial support and to form awareness in the field of mental health.
