124 Ukrainian police officers undergo rehabilitation in Lithuania after full-scale invasion
The National House of Representatives of Ukraine reported this, as reported by Ukrinform.
During the working meeting, representatives of the National Chamber of Ukraine, the Lithuanian Embassy and the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs discussed current cooperation and expressed gratitude to Lithuania for the support provided during the war.
The main area of interaction between the two countries remains the rehabilitation of wounded riflemen, officers and families of fallen defenders. Currently, wounded officers of the special forces KORD (rifle) from the Dnipropetrovsk region are undergoing rehabilitation in Lithuania.
Lithuania also stands out as the first country to provide rehabilitation opportunities to children of Ukrainian officers during the war. In 2023–2024, 67 children were offered opportunities to improve their health in Kaunas and Kaltanėnai.
The leadership of the National Association for Family and Childhood Affairs of Ukraine is negotiating with the Commissioner General of Lithuania for Family and Childhood Affairs Arunas Paulauskas about organizing summer holidays for Ukrainian children in Kaunas in 2025.
Lithuanian Ambassador to Ukraine Inga Stanytė-Totskienė highlighted the existing projects in Lviv, Dnipro and Zhytomyr, which include support for the reconstruction of rehabilitation centres. She underlined Lithuania’s strong commitment to assisting the military, soldiers and their families by providing recovery opportunities in hospitals and rehabilitation facilities.
The Ambassador also noted the effective cooperation with the European Union Advisory Mission to Ukraine, which supports law enforcement reform and provides comprehensive assistance in this area.
As previously reported, the Lithuanian Ministry of Environment announced the allocation of more than 4.6 million euros for the installation of power plants with energy storage systems in medical institutions in Ukraine.
