Trump's negotiations with Putin: main points

The talks between the US and Russian presidents have become the main political event of this week. They are especially important for Ukraine, as Ukraine has become the main topic of discussion between the leaders of the countries.

The White House reported that the presidents' telephone conversation lasted almost 2.5 hours. This conversation was reportedly the longest telephone conversation between leaders in the history of Russia and the United States.

The presidents agreed on their readiness to work together on a settlement in Ukraine, and it “must be sustainable.”

Putin stated “the need to eliminate the root causes of the crisis, the legitimacy of Russia's interests in the security sector.”

Russia demands a complete cessation of foreign military assistance to Ukraine and the provision of intelligence information to the Ukrainian side.

There will be no full 30-day ceasefire. According to the White House, “the movement towards peace will begin with an energy and infrastructure ceasefire, as well as negotiations to implement a naval ceasefire in the Black Sea.”

Putin supported Trump's idea of a 30-day mutual renunciation by Russia and Ukraine of attacks on energy infrastructure. The corresponding order was given to the Russian Armed Forces.

Russian and American expert groups are being formed to conduct further negotiations. These negotiations will begin immediately in the Middle East.
