Ukraine's war-related losses since 2014 have reached $1 trillion – Mudra

The total amount of losses incurred by Ukraine since the beginning of Russian military aggression in 2014 could approach 1 trillion US dollars.

Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Iryna Mudra reported this in Igor Dgov’s video blog on Ukrinform.

“We know that today the amount of damage caused by Russia over the last three years alone is already estimated at 589 billion US dollars,” Mudra noted.

According to her, due to Russia's constant attacks on Ukrainian territory, the real amount of damage increases daily.

“These figures are among the most conservative estimates. If we consider the start of military actions in 2014, this amount could reach 1 trillion US dollars, including tens of thousands of lost lives,” Mudra added.

Let us recall that according to the World Bank's Fourth Rapid Damage and Needs Assessment (RDNA4), Ukraine's total indirect financial losses from 2022 are estimated at approximately USD 589 billion.

In contrast to last year's estimates ($152 billion), Ukraine's direct losses from Russian military aggression have increased to $176 billion since 2022. The hardest-hit sectors were housing construction, transport infrastructure, energy, manufacturing, and education.
