How to quickly freshen up a carpet without getting your hands wet – no need to take it anywhere, everything can be done at home

Some people believe that carpets are a thing of the past, but I have a completely different opinion, Ukr.Media reports.

For me, there is nothing more pleasant than walking barefoot on a soft, warm carpet. It is much more comfortable than walking barefoot on tiles or linoleum. Especially in the cold season. And the room looks much cozier and nicer if there is a carpet on the floor.

But I can't help but agree with those who consider carpet to be a dust collector.

Indeed, dust and dirt, pet hair and much more get trapped in the soft product. Cleaning a carpet can turn into a real torment if you don't know how to do it correctly.

Naturally, my weekly cleaning routine consists of simply vacuuming the carpet with a powerful vacuum cleaner. It pulls out visible dirt and pet hair with a bang. However, sometimes I have to do this more often.

As you know, in a house with children and pets, the carpet is prone to heavy soiling.

Cleaning with liquid carpet cleaners didn't suit me at all.

The application method itself is not suitable.

Shake the foam and wet the product. And waiting for the carpet to dry is too long. And if you also pour a lot of water on it, then there is a risk that mold and an unpleasant odor will appear in the product that has not dried.

You can, of course, dry the product in the fresh air. But there is one but! That is, you have to roll up the carpet. And take it outside. Set it up somewhere to dry, and then drag it back again. In short, it is too difficult.

It is for these reasons that I use the same method every month to clean my carpet.

The method does not involve the use of water, which is a plus if you want to avoid the carpet taking a long time to dry and the risk of mold and unpleasant odors.

Salt and baking soda, due to their abrasive properties and ability to absorb dirt, can help remove some surface dust, dirt, and grease stains. Baking soda is a good odor absorber, so this method can help eliminate unpleasant odors from carpet.

The salt and soda method is not effective enough for deep cleaning your carpet. It will not remove old dirt, deep-seated stains, or allergens that have built up deep in the pile. This requires deeper cleaning methods such as wet cleaning or professional dry cleaning. However, it is suitable for regular maintenance cleaning between deeper cleanings.

I do it this way: I sprinkle a mixture of salt and baking soda over the entire surface of the carpet.

I rub salt and soda into the carpet using a stiff brush.

And I leave the carpet in this condition for a couple of hours. Then I remove the remaining salt and soda with a powerful vacuum cleaner.

Important! This dry cleaning method is suitable for short-pile carpets, but if your pile is long, the mixture of baking soda and salt may penetrate too deeply and it will be difficult to remove even with a vacuum cleaner.

That's all!
