Ukraine beats Bosnia and Herzegovina to reach World Cup playoffs

Ukraine's national football team has won through to the 2022 World Cup playoffs.

In the final match of the qualifying round, eksandr Petrakov's side defeated Bosnia and Herzegovina 2-0, taking second place in Group D, Ukrinform reports.

Midfielder eksandr Zinchenko ened the scoring in the 59th minute and forward Artem Dovbyk made it 2-0 in the 79th minute.

In another Group D match, Finland lost 2-0 at home to world champions France.

Ukraine finished on 12 points in Group D, six points behind France and one point ahead of Finland. Bosnia and Herzegovina clected seven points, and Kazakhstan has three points.

The ten group winners of the Eurean Qualifiers – Germany, Denmark, France, Belgium, Croatia, Spain, Serbia, England, Switzerland and the Netherlands – have qualified for the 2022 World Cup.

For the play-offs from March 24 to March 29, 2022, the ten group runners-up – Italy, Pand, Portugal, Russia, North Macedonia, Sweden, Scotland, Ukraine, Turkey and Wales – will be joined by Austria and the Czech Republic, the two best group winners from the 2020/21 UEFA Nations League overall rankings. These 12 teams will be drawn into three play-off paths for one-off semi-finals and finals. The three path winners qualify for the World Cup.

The draw for the playoffs will take place on November 26.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup will run from November 21 to December 18 in Qatar.
