Svitina reaches Abu Dhabi en quarterfinals
Ukraine's t-seeded tennis player and world No. 5 Elina Svitina has defeated Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova (world No. 33) in the third round of the 2021 Abu Dhabi Women's Tennis en in the UAE, with $565,530 in prize money.
Svitina beat Alexandrova 6-2, 6-7 (5-7), 7-6 (10-8) on Sunday, January 10, according to Ukrinform.
The ponents spent two hours and 35 minutes on the court.
In the quarterfinals, Svitina will take on another Russian tennis player, Veronika Kudermetova (No. 46). The latter defeated Spaniard Paula Badosa (No. 70) in the second round 6-4, 4-6, 6-1.
