Zelensky on the deal with the US on mineral supplies: “Our countries must sign it”
Zelensky said this on Friday in an interview with Fox News, as reported by Ukrinform.
“This deal has been developed by our teams for several weeks. The process was complex, but now everything is ready. I believe it needs to be signed – countries need to sign it, ministers need to sign it. That's all,” he said.
He added that the US had expressed interest in signing the document, and Ukraine was not against it. However, he stressed that Ukraine would like to receive clarity regarding the security guarantees included in the agreement and the next steps.
Zelensky explained that the war had brought significant losses to Ukrainians, and they did not want to face new unpleasant surprises. He also emphasized that Ukraine strives to be honest with its partners.
According to him, the timing of signing the agreement depends on the American side.
The signing ceremony was planned in Washington on Friday, with both presidents expected to attend. However, after talks were suspended, the signing was cancelled. However, the White House has not ruled out the possibility of signing the agreement while the Ukrainian delegation is in the US.
