Ukraine's NATO membership should remain on the agenda of negotiations – Sybiga
The head of Ukrainian diplomacy spoke about this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine, as reported by Ukrinform.
“NATO should not be removed from the agenda, it is our top priority. Yes, at the moment there is no unanimity among our partners on the issue of Ukraine's membership in NATO, but, I repeat, this is enshrined in the Constitution of Ukraine, this is the strategic choice of the Ukrainian people, and the most reliable guarantee of Ukraine's security is membership in NATO,” Sybiga emphasized.
Among other security guarantees, he mentioned the protection of Ukraine's air and sea space, as well as the build-up of its military potential.
“If we talk about other specific and effective security guarantees, then this is aviation, the use of air fleets, the air defense systems of our allies. This certainly concerns the sea. It is obvious that there are advantages arising from the presence of the fleet in the Black Sea. Of course, this is support for our defense industry,” the minister noted.

He added that we must strive for greater self-sufficiency in the area of defense and “strengthen our positions so that the enemy clearly understands the consequences and cost of possible further provocations, potential aggression.”
“But the priority, of course, is air defense systems, strengthening our capabilities in the drone sector, as well as artillery capabilities – this concerns both shells and artillery itself. We are well aware of these priorities, we are working with partners and are focused on achieving concrete results,” the foreign minister concluded.
As reported, US National Security Advisor Mike Walz stated that Ukraine's integration into NATO is unlikely, and this position is taken not only by the US, but also by other NATO member countries.
