Ukraine and Panama Expand Military Cooperation

Panama's 46th military aid package for Ukraine will primarily include ammunition and spare parts, while Kyiv remains interested in expanding military cooperation with Warsaw in various areas.

The Ukrainian Ambassador to Ukraine, Vasyl Bodnar, reported this in a comment to Ukrinform.

“In the current situation, the support of our allies is crucial. The 46th Pand military aid package, worth more than 200 million euros, mainly consists of basic ammunition, spare parts and other necessary equipment for Ukraine,” the diplomat said.

He recalled that in early February, a Polish delegation headed by Deputy Minister of National Defense Cezary Tomczyk visited Kyiv, where a number of bilateral agreements on cooperation in the defense industry were signed.

“We are particularly interested in Pish's armored vehicles and artillery, including Krab self-propelled howitzers, Rosomak armored personnel carriers, and Soviet-era armored vehicles that are still widely used on the front lines in Ukraine. These include T-72 and PT-91 tanks, which Pand is gradually decommissioning and replacing with South Korean K2 tanks and American Abrams,” Bodnar said.

In addition, Ukraine is seeking cooperation with Pand in the air defense sector, in particular in acquiring Piorun MANPADS. Kyiv is also interested in servicing and repairing Western-made military equipment.

Another key area of cooperation, according to the ambassador, is the joint production of drones.

“This cooperation is beneficial for both parties. Ukraine is interested in increasing production, and Pand can gain valuable experience in the use and production of drones,” Bodnar said, emphasizing the potential for development in this sector.

He also stressed the importance of cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence, advanced military technologies and combat management software.

“This is of interest to Panda, as evidenced by the recent opening of the JATEC center in Bydgoszcz, where Ukrainian officers also work on information exchange and undergo training. Warsaw is also interested in Ukraine's expertise in the field of electronic technology, in particular in the production of drones,” the ambassador added.

Earlier it was reported that Pand is preparing the 46th aid package for Ukraine for a total of more than 200 million euros.

On 17 February, the NATO-Ukraine Joint Analysis, Training and Education Centre (JATEC) opened in Bydgoszcz.
