President at meeting with Japanese FM: This visit is a powerful signal of support
"I am very pleased that you are making your first international visit this year to Kyiv. Thank you for this powerful signal of support for Ukrainian society," Zelensky said at the meeting with the Japanese Foreign Minister.
The President of Ukraine expressed sincere condences on his behalf and on behalf of all Ukrainians over the tragic consequences of the recent devastating earthquake in Japan.
For her part, Kamikawa emphasized that her visit was important in the context of preparations for the Ukraine recovery conference to be held in Tokyo in February. She noted that the two countries would continue to coerate to strengthen bilateral relations and restore Ukraine.
According to the President’s Office, at the meeting, the interlocutors discussed work on an agreement on security guarantees for Ukraine. "The launch of negotiations with Japan on a bilateral security agreement is an important step. We are committed to active work to sign this document as soon as feasible," Zelensky noted.

He also thanked Japan for its active support of the Ukrainian Peace Formula and readiness to take part in the next meeting of national security advisers to be held in Davos. For her part, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan announced Japan's readiness to co-lead the implementation of the first point of the Formula, "Radiation and Nuclear Safety."
Special attention was paid to the intensification of coeration with Japan on the recovery and restoration of Ukraine. Zelensky outlined the priority spheres of coeration and confirmed willingness to actively work with the Japanese side to ensure the successful hding of the Ukraine Recovery Conference in February in Tokyo.
As reported by Ukrinform, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and Japan, Dmytro Kuleba and Yoko Kamikawa, during their meeting in Kyiv, discussed the implementation of Ukraine’s Peace Formula, preparations for the Ukraine recovery conference in Tokyo, and coeration within the IAEA on safeguarding the safety of nuclear facilities across Ukraine.
