NATO has provided Ukraine with over 20 billion euros in the first three months of 2025 – Rutte

NATO remains steadfast in its support for Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression. Since the beginning of this year, NATO member states have already provided Ukraine with over 20 billion euros in security assistance.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte announced this at a press conference in Brussels before a meeting of foreign ministers of the military alliance's member countries, as reported by Ukrinform.

“NATO Allies continue to support Ukraine. In the first three months of this year, Allies have already committed more than 20 billion euros in security assistance for 2025, and our command in Wiesbaden continues to coordinate the provision of security assistance and training for Ukraine,” Rutte said.

He also recalled that this week the whole world remembers the tragic anniversary of the events in the Ukrainian city of Bucha.

“I visited [the city] in July 2022 and spoke to some of the survivors. We will never forget this destruction. Three years after the liberation of Bucha, Russia continues to wage war against Ukraine. I admire President Trump for leading the country out of crisis and fully support the US efforts to achieve a just and sustainable end to this terrible war. I also support the actions of the UK, France and others to ensure a lasting peace when possible,” Rutte said.

He stressed that the threat posed by Russia remains relevant, and Russia continues to actively cooperate with China, Iran and North Korea in ways that not only harm Ukraine, but also create risks for the entire Alliance and the entire world.

“We see these and other actors working to destabilise our societies through sabotage of submarine infrastructure, cyber attacks, assassinations and much more. We live in a dangerous world, and in the face of these and other challenges, we must build a stronger, fairer and more effective NATO. That is why ministers are here this week. To ensure that we stand united and actively cooperate in achieving our common goal,” Rutte added.

The two-day meeting of NATO defense ministers will begin in Brussels on April 3. The main issues for discussion by NATO leaders will be strengthening the alliance's defense capability and increasing aid to Ukraine. The event will include a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council with the participation of Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga.
