G7 security advisers discuss peace in Ukraine

National security advisers from the G7 countries discussed achievements in the peace process in Ukraine.

This was reported by the Canadian Prime Minister's National Security Advisor Natalie Drouin after an online meeting with colleagues from other G7 countries and the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak, as reported by an Ukrinform correspondent.

“I have convened a second meeting of national security advisers from the G7 and Ukraine to discuss ongoing peace negotiations to achieve a just, comprehensive and sustainable end to Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine,” Drouin said of Friday’s meeting.

According to the official, the “importance of confidence-building measures” was emphasized. “I emphasized the need for robust and effective security measures to ensure that Ukraine can deter and defend itself against any potential acts of aggression, and I emphasized the importance of strengthening or expanding sanctions against Russia at this critical time,” the National Security Adviser to the Prime Minister of Canada added.

Drouin also “reiterated Canada's continued support for Ukraine and that Russia must be held accountable for its aggressive actions against Ukraine.”

As reported by Ukrinform, earlier the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak said that he informed the participants about the results of the meeting in Paris, dedicated to supporting Ukraine.
