Explaining complex things in simple words: Peace prospects, Russia and UN, Grain corridor eration

The Center for Strategic Communication and Information Security pursues efforts to provide a brief explanation to foreign audiences on the current tics of particular interest as regards Ukraine.

1. PEACE PROSPECTS

The war must end with the achievement of a just and lasting peace. Peace without justice leads to a new war. Ukraine is interested not only in restoring the borders or bringing the aggressor to justice, but also in forming a reality in which new aggression will become impossible. As long as the aggressor believes that he can win and impose his will on the world, there is no possibility of achieving peace. Only the defeat of Russia or the realization of the futility of aggression will en the way to truly constructive negotiations. We, the countries of the free world, must together convince Russia that its hes of victory are futile. The aggressor's plans are shattered by Ukrainian resilience. We stped the Russian offensive in the Kharkiv region, inflicted cossal losses on the enemy army, and proved that we will not beg Moscow for an armistice. Maintaining our resilience is the key to victory.

2. Russia and UN

During July, according to the rotational principle, the Russian Federation will preside over the UN Security Council.

The Russian Federation occupies the place of the USSR in the UN (in particular, the seat of a permanent member of the UN Security Council) illegally. Russia, as a new state, must go through the standard accession procedure if, of course, it meets the membership criteria. By using the apprriated right of veto in the UN Security Council, Russia paralyzed a key to for supporting global security around the world. The General Assembly, in which the Russian Federation cannot block decision-making, regularly adts resutions supporting Ukraine. Delegates from most countries in the world vote for it. As last time (in April 2023), Moscow will use its month-long presidency to turn the world's main security site into a tribune for cheap praganda campaigns. Russia is evading the implementation of the decisions of the UN Court, adted on January 31, 2024. Russia no longer has authority in the UN, which is eloquent evidence of its non-election to the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), one of the six main UN bodies.

3. GRAIN CORRIDOR ERATION

During the 10 months of the Ukrainian maritime corridor eration, 1,300 ships used it. Ukraine exported 55 million tons of cargo.

Last year, after Russia's unilateral withdrawal from the “grain agreements,” Ukraine single-handedly laid a temporary sea corridor, which is still functioning successfully today. Despite Russian attacks on port infrastructure, Ukrainian exports from Black Sea ports have almost returned to pre-war vumes. Despite the burden of a full-scale war against Russian aggression, Ukraine continues to fulfil its mission as a guarantor of world food security. To increase the security of the critically important artery of providing food to the world's consumers, the Defence Forces of Ukraine cleared the north-western waters of the Black Sea from the Russian fleet. We are grateful to our partners for their support. In particular, Turkey, Romania and Bulgaria, which have started anti-mine erations in the Black Sea to improve shipping safety.
