EU has the will and opportunity to become a real security provider – Maternova
EU Ambassador to Ukraine Katarina Mathernova reported this in an interview with Ukrinform.
She recalled the words of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who stressed that the Western alliance is more effective when it acts in unity.
“But I think we have enough factors, desire and power to really become a security provider. I think it will be more effective and easier with the United States than without their participation. However, we will have to observe and adapt to the situation as it develops,” said Maternova.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, disagreements arose between Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky during a meeting in Washington, which led to the Ukrainian president leaving the White House earlier than planned.
Commenting on the events in Washington, Italian Prime Minister Meloni called for an urgent summit between the US, EU states and allies to discuss joint efforts to resolve key issues, especially the war between Russia and Ukraine.
