Nova Poshta launches 1 MW solar power plant

The leader of express mail in Ukraine, Nova Poshta, launched a 1 MW solar power plant.

"A megawatt power plant has started operating on the roof of the Kyiv Innovation Terminal of Nova Poshta. The solar panel field is spread over an area of 5,000 square meters," co-owner of the company Volodymyr Popereshniuk wrote on Facebook on Monday.

The investment in the project amounted to UAH 14 million.

The expected payback is three years.

Popereshniuk announced plans to install industrial uninterruptible power supply systems and energy storage equipment to improve the efficiency of energy capacities.

"The key to the growth of investments in our energy independence was, among other things, the abolition of VAT on the import of energy equipment. We were able to launch our energy program, develop renewable energy sources and reduce consumption from the general power grid," said the co-owner of Nova Poshta.

As reported, in April 2023, because of the Russian Federation's attacks on the energy system, Nova Poshta created the energy company Nova Energy to develop regular electricity generation and ensure the autonomy of the company's facilities. Since August, the company has been engaged in small-scale wholesale sales of diesel fuel on the open market.

Popereshniuk stated that after the end of the war and the improvement of the energy supply situation, Nova Energy would be sold as a non-core business.
