Norway has transferred equipment to Ukraine to increase the capacity of the energy system by 200 MW
Certificates for gas turbine generators for the Naftogaz Group, equipment for Ukrgazvydobuvannya and the supply of two autotransformers for Ukrenergo were presented by Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“Norway makes a significant contribution to supporting the energy sector of Ukraine. Today we are talking about the transfer of 16 units of gas turbine equipment for Naftogaz, SAR panels (for Ukrenergo) and critical equipment for Ukrgazdobycha. In total, this is 200 megawatts that will be added to the energy system of Ukraine this year,” said Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko after the certificate presentation ceremony.
He added that this will be a decentralized generation that will provide additional electricity to about 1.5 million consumers.
“This covers many regions – Dnepropetrovsk, Zaporozhye, Kharkov, Lviv – the geography is very extensive,” the minister noted.
According to Galushchenko, this assistance is critically important for Ukraine, since our energy system is under daily attacks from Russia.
The Minister also emphasized the significant role of UNDP in supporting Ukraine’s energy system.
“In fact, they (UNDP) are the executors of these projects, and today, thanks to such cooperation, we have been able to keep the energy system intact and safe,” the official emphasized.
