Completion of construction of Khmelnytsky NPP will require 9,000 employees, recruitment of new personnel – Energoatom head

Projects for the completion of construction of new power units at Khmelnytsky NPP will require an additional 9,000 employees and recruitment of new personnel, Energoatom reported with reference to head of the company Petro Kotin on Monday.

"Everything will depend on how quickly it will be possible to deploy these large projects because the construction that Khmelnytsky NPP is planning requires an additional 9,000 people. Therefore, of course, we will need to recruit additional people, we are working on this," he explained.

As Kotin noted, Energoatom, in order to replenish the company with personnel for the implementation of large projects, organized work with higher educational institutions of Ukraine, where future specialists are trained. Energoatom is also implementing programs with all polytechnic universities of Ukraine in order to finance the best teachers and students.

According to Kotin, the personnel of the nuclear power generating company since the beginning of the full-scale war has been reduced from 35,000 to about 30,000 people. At the same time, almost a thousand people became military personnel and went to defend Ukraine, there are also 3,000 people who betrayed Ukraine, signed contracts with Rosatom and remained at Zaporizhia nuclear power plant. Another 2,000 people left Ukraine.

"There are about 5,000 people on the territory of Ukraine, they are all employed by us, respectively, in our other divisions. Therefore, we are retaining these parts of the team and are also working on the influx of new personnel,” Kotin noted.

As reported, Energoatom plans to complete the construction of power units No. 3 and No. 4 at Khmelnytsky NPP with Soviet-technology VVER-1000 reactors, and implement projects for the construction of power units No. 5 and No. 6 with American Westinghouse reactors in the future.
