Russia Spreads Fake News About Alleged Ukrainian “Provocation at Kursk NPP” – CCD
The Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD) under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine reported this on Telegram, as reported by Ukrinform.
“On the eve of the meetings of the Ukrainian and US delegations in Saudi Arabia, Russian propaganda has once again begun to spread fake news that Ukraine is allegedly planning a nuclear provocation. Kremlin propagandists claim that “the Kiev regime is planning a provocation at the Kursk NPP.” These statements have nothing to do with reality. Moreover, this is far from the first time that the Russians have tried to promote such disinformation,” the agency reports.

The CCD noted that the purpose of such disinformation, especially before key negotiations, is to create the illusion that Ukraine is not really interested in peace and is ready to resort to provocations to disrupt the negotiations. In reality, the Kremlin uses this tactic to weaken Ukraine's position before the negotiations and to sow discord between Kiev and Washington.
President Volodymyr Zelensky previously stated that there were no plans to seize the nuclear power plant during the Kursk disaster.
