According to reports from broadcaster NOS, Dutch authorities suspect that the individual who harmed five people close to a central square in Amsterdam on March 27 is likely a citizen of Ukraine.

The authorities in Amsterdam have identified the assailant as a 30-year-old Ukrainian hailing from the Donetsk region. Journalists have indicated that it remains unclear if he originates from the portion of the region currently under Russian control.

On Tuesday, April 1, a court will rule on the preventive measures for the suspect. The police have yet to provide insights into his motives. Officers specializing in serious crimes and counter-terrorism are part of the ongoing inquiry.

The suspect is currently hospitalized due to a leg injury and is being treated at the penitentiary facility.
