A new frying pan with a non-stick coating is one of the best helpers in the kitchen. However, unfortunately, such utensils often quickly become unusable. Experts told us what to do to extend the service life of frying pans with a non-stick coating, informs Ukr.Media.
According to them, the coating of such pans wears off quite quickly. Their service life depends on the quality of the materials, frequency of use and care. In general, such pans can “live” from two months to two years.
To avoid having to throw away your cookware prematurely, first, don't overheat it. Experts say it's best to keep your pan on low or medium heat. Putting it on high heat a few times won't hurt, but it's generally best to avoid it.
Secondly, these pans cannot be washed in the dishwasher. It is better to use a non-abrasive dishwashing detergent and wash it by hand in warm water.
In addition, such cookware is completely incompatible with metal objects, in particular, cooking spatulas and dishwashing sponges. They will quickly scratch the surface of the pan, causing it to lose its properties.
Experts also reminded that there are signs that a pan's non-stick coating has worn away. Signs that it's time to replace non-stick cookware include visible wear, food sticking to the surface, uneven heating or warping, they concluded.
