Secrets of aromatherapy in the kitchen: getting rid of odors naturally

The kitchen is the heart of the home, a place of comfort, warmth and delicious food. However, sometimes the aromas that remain after cooking are not the most pleasant. Fried fish, garlic, cabbage or overcooked oil can “settle” in the air for a long time. But there is good news: these odors can be neutralized naturally – without chemicals and sprays.

Aromatherapy in the kitchen is not only about pleasant smells, but also about health benefits and emotional comfort. We tell you how to use essential oils, spices, and simple ingredients to bring clean and fresh air back into your home, informs Ukr.Media.

All you need is a regular frying pan and… dried herbs! Yes, rosemary, lavender, or even coffee beans can become a natural flavoring. Pour a handful of herbs into a dry frying pan, put on a minimum heat. After 2-3 minutes, the air will be filled with a cozy aroma. To enhance the effect, add a drop of water and a slice of orange – citrus oils will cut through any unpleasant odors.

If you don't want to smoke your herbs, put them in cloth bags and hide them behind sofas or in closets. Coffee grounds absorb odors – put them in the refrigerator or in your shoes.

You can also mix baking soda with ground coffee (1:1) and pour it into vases – this is a cheap analogue of store-bought odor absorbers.

Citrus peels and water are also a great way to freshen the air — boil orange, lemon, or lime peels in a saucepan or small frying pan. Add a cinnamon stick or a few clove buds for an even deeper aroma. After 10-15 minutes of boiling, the aroma will fill the kitchen, displacing unpleasant odors.

Apple cider vinegar and vanilla are also great for dealing with bad odors. Boil apple slices, a cinnamon stick, and a pinch of vanilla in water. Perfect after frying meat or fish. It also has a cozy aroma, like grandma's kitchen.
