After the summer, windows become dusty and dirty, streaks and white coating form on them. To let more sunlight into the apartment and make it more pleasant to look at the streetscapes, consider dedicating half an hour of free time to cleaning. Exactly half an hour, because you shouldn't wash all the windows at once – you'll bring cold into the house and get very tired. Therefore, we advise you to wash one window at a time – because there's still time before the holidays. This way, washing will be done without haste and without fatigue, so the windows will be cleaner. And for now, we'll tell you how to quickly wash windows inside and outside at home, informs Ukr.Media.

Is it possible to wash windows in an apartment without streaks?

It is possible to make your windows shine without a single streak. The main thing is not to wash them in direct sunlight or when there is wind: the cleaning agent will dry too quickly, which will lead to the formation of spots on which dust will definitely remain. Also, do not add too much cleaning agent to the water. If a thick soap suds forms in the solution, it will definitely remain on the windows in the form of streaks during cleaning.

And the last rule that will allow you to wash windows without streaks is not to use a cloth with lint. After the surface is cleaned, it is better to dry it with a dry microfiber cloth. In extreme cases, you can use disposable paper napkins or wipe the windows with a newspaper, as our grandmothers used to do.

How to quickly wash windows: tools and products

Before you start cleaning your windows, prepare the necessary tools and cleaning products. Purchase a pair of rubber-bladed squeegees, a sponge, and a microfiber cloth from a hardware store.

It is not necessary to wash windows with aggressive chemicals. For those who are afraid of damaging the coating of window frames, natural remedies that can be found in every home are suitable. You just need to pour warm water into a bucket and add a tablespoon of dishwashing detergent. Such a weak solution can be safely applied to the glass.

Procedure:

1. Start cleaning your windows by removing dust. Vacuum the gaps between the window frames, window sills, hardware, and the glass itself. Additionally, wipe the surface with a dry cloth. To prevent dirt from curtains or blinds from falling onto the windows, remove them and then wipe or wash them.

2. Clean hard-to-reach areas of accumulated debris with a toothbrush. Get rid of dried dirt on the exterior facade, especially on exterior eaves.

3. Dampen a sponge in soapy water and apply to the glass. Avoid performing acrobatic tricks, balancing on the windowsill and trying to reach dirty areas from the outside – just take a mop with a flat nozzle and spread the product on the glass from the street side.

4. Press the scraper blade against the glass at the top of the window. Starting from the top, start scraping away the soap solution. Keep the scraper moving in the same direction—vertically. Wipe the blade with a clean towel to remove any remaining suds, and then go over the glass again, following the same path. Then wipe the window with a microfiber cloth.

5. If you don’t know how to clean windows so that all the dirt disappears the first time, use a non-toxic and antibacterial agent – table vinegar. Add half a cup of white vinegar to the soap solution, pour the product into a spray bottle and spray it on the surface of the window, having previously protected your hands with gloves. Leave the vinegar for half a minute, then wipe the glass with a damp sponge.

6. To remove spot stains — tar or bird droppings — half a lemon is suitable. This is a great alternative to professional abrasive mixtures. Cut the citrus, remove the seeds from it and wipe the glass with the pulp. After a few seconds, remove the remaining lemon juice with a cloth.

7. If you don’t have any vinegar or lemon at home, get some rubbing alcohol or antiseptic from your medicine cabinet. The trick is to add the disinfectant not to regular water, but to distilled water — you’ll need two tablespoons per 500 ml of liquid. Distilled water doesn’t contain any impurities, so it won’t leave streaks, unlike regular tap water.

8. After all cleaning steps, wait for the window to dry completely and wipe it again with a dry, lint-free cloth.
