How often do you really need to wash your winter outerwear?
Experts shared their tips on caring for winter outerwear, Ukr.Media reports.
Experts pointed out that the frequency of washing winter clothes depends on many factors, such as the material, color and type of filler. For example, wool products require cleaning only once during the cold season. This is because the keratin contained in wool effectively fights bacteria that cause odor. However, if a wool coat gets wet in the rain, it should be dried immediately.
For leather, the guidelines are a little different. You can only clean leather items twice a winter. Dempsey recommends wiping down leather coats with a damp cloth before professional cleaning to avoid damaging the material with dirt and other substances.
At the expense of quilted jackets and parkas, which, according to experts, should be washed twice per winter season if worn regularly. Synthetic fillers allow you to wash such jackets at home, but you must carefully follow the instructions on the label. It is always recommended to take down jackets to a professional dry cleaner.
