5 tricks that made me forget how boring cleaning the kitchen is, now I always have order in it

Wipe all work surfaces of accumulated grease and plaque. Clean household appliances: microwave, coffee maker, toaster. Take out the trash and wash the trash can, informs Ukr.Media.

By the time you've finished tidying up, it's already evening. Over time, I've developed a few important daily cleaning rules that allow me to shorten the weekly cleaning process.

Washing dishes

I follow this rule strictly and have taught my family to do the same. After every meal, we wash dirty dishes. Even if it's just a glass or a plate with a spoon. I noticed that everyone in the family had their own reasons for not rushing to wash dirty dishes.

I have dry skin on my hands. I was very afraid that frequent contact with dishwashing liquid would dry out my hands even more. When I realized what was causing my reluctance to wash dishes, I simply put a pack of disposable gloves in the kitchen. I use them every time I come into contact with detergents, and I have no problems with dry skin.

The children really didn't like touching the sponge for washing dishes. They thought it was dirty and worn out. Now I change the sponge quite often, and the children calmly take it in their hands and wash the dishes.

Think about it, maybe your family has reasons for not wanting to wash the dishes right away.

Tricks with household appliances

I use the kitchen appliances quite often: the microwave, toaster, and coffee maker every day, the meat grinder once a month, and the slow cooker once a week. Previously, I didn't clean the kitchen appliances from the work surfaces.

And, as it turned out, it was in vain. I noticed that even if I don’t use the equipment, sticky residue and dust accumulate on it. Then everything that I don’t use every day was put away in the closet. This allowed me to reduce cleaning time, saving me from having to wash these items every week.

I moved the coffee maker, microwave, and toaster as far away from the hob as possible. Now no drops of fat get on them while cooking.

When heating food in the microwave, I taught everyone in the house to cover the plate with a lid. It's much easier to wash than the appliances themselves.

Many blanks

I always try to plan my menu for a month. Or, at the very least, for a couple of weeks at least. Every housewife knows that the more you cook, the more you clean. Therefore, I came to the conclusion that the preparations for the dish or the dish itself should be made with a small margin.

For example, I never make dumplings for one meal. Most often for two or three meals. I freeze the leftovers and take them out when I need them. The same goes for vegetable stir-fry for borscht. I reheat vegetables with leftovers for two meals.

I cool it, put it in vacuum bags and send it to the freezer. When preparing the salad, I also boil the vegetables “in reserve” so as not to repeat the process in a couple of days. This method significantly saves cooking time and time spent on cleaning.

Trash can tricks

When getting ready for work in the morning, there is rarely time to pick up the trash that has fallen out of the trash bag. Or replace a torn bag with a new one. Like I do.

I put several bags in the trash can at once. In the morning, all that remains is to pick up the top one with the trash and take it to the trash can. By the way, this method also protects against leaking smelly liquids into the bucket. If a bag with trash leaks, just pull it out with the next bag.

Tricks with products

Since we always cook with a margin in our family, we also buy food with a margin. I try to buy fresh products with a good release date to avoid expiration dates. But it happened that two packages of yogurt, two sausage sticks or two packages of milk turned out to be open at the same time.

It is clear that it is necessary to eat the product that is about to expire as soon as possible. But how to do this in practice? I started separate containers in the refrigerator under the code phrase “Eat me quickly”. I placed these containers on the most visited shelf in the refrigerator at eye level.

And I put unopened products with a long shelf life in the very back of the shelves. Now, when I open the refrigerator, I inevitably look into the containers first and use the products in them.
