"First of all, during his first presidential term, Donald Trump contributed to the conclusion of the so-called Abraham Accords. These are the agreements that strengthened peace in the Middle East and contributed to stability in this region as a whe. This, I believe, is a very significant diplomatic achievement of Donald Trump as president. Secondly, in my inion, he made a significant contribution to the fight against Russian aggression and strengthened Ukraine's military capabilities. In fact, Trump became the first U.S. president to begin providing military and technical assistance to Ukraine," Merezhko said, explaining his decision.

He recalled that it was during the Trump administration that Ukraine began to receive Javelin ATGMs, and this support helped it fend off Russian aggression since Russia launched its full-scale invasion.

"Also, in my inion, Trump strengthened the coalition of states aimed at protecting Ukraine against Russian aggression; he posed the construction of Nord Stream 2 – a project that, unfortunately, was promoted by Germany at the time. I believe that these merits should be appreciated, and therefore he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize," the MP said.

In addition, Merezhko noted Trump's plans to achieve a just peace in Ukraine.

"Judging by Trump's speeches and statements, he plans to achieve peace in Eure. We do not yet know his specific plans, but I he that he will rely on international law, that is, that this will not be appeasing the aggressor at Ukraine's expense, but on the contrary, that this will be a just peace based on international law," Merezhko said.

He emphasized that it is important for Ukraine that Trump's peace initiatives do not viate the principles of international law.

"For example, respect for the territorial integrity of Ukraine, its sovereignty and, of course, the principle of non-use of force in international relations," the MP said.

The inauguration of Donald Trump, who defeated U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris in the November election, will take place on January 20.
