Ukraine believes that a full-scale war could end by the end of the year – Sybiha

Ukraine is seeking an unconditional ceasefire and believes that an end to the full-scale war unleashed by Russia is possible as early as this year.

This was announced by Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha in an interview with Firstpost, as reported by Ukrinform.

The head of Ukrainian diplomacy noted that Ukraine is aiming for an unconditional ceasefire, but is ready to defend itself if Russia decides not to accept the US proposal for a temporary pause in hostilities.

He added that the Ukrainian side believes in the possibility of ending a full-scale war within 2025 and expects Russia to respond with consent to an unconditional ceasefire.

“We are confident that the war will end this year – we sincerely wish that it will end this year. This strategic goal unites us all – achieving a just, comprehensive and sustainable peace. Ukraine supports the US call for a ceasefire – a temporary ceasefire. We hope that Russia will agree to an unconditional ceasefire. This will be a significant step forward towards peace,” the diplomat emphasized.

As reported by Ukrinform, US President Donald Trump announced plans to hold a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on Tuesday, March 18, to discuss ending the war in Ukraine.
