Trump Must Convince Putin to Drop Some 'Absurd Demands' – Pish FM
This was announced by Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski after a meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council, as reported by Ukrinform with reference to Wnp.pl.
Sikorski wished Trump luck in his talks with the Russian leader, expressing hope that the US president will prove himself to be the good negotiator he claims to be and will be able to persuade Putin to drop some of his “absurd demands.” These include the desire to take control of or demilitarize all of Ukraine, as well as plans to seize additional Ukrainian territory in the future.
“We will evaluate the success of Trump’s negotiations by the quality of the peace achieved,” Sikorski emphasized.
He noted that peace talks would be a test for Russia and recalled that Ukraine had agreed to a 30-day ceasefire, while Russia continues to make its demands, indicating that it is “not interested in peace or real peace talks.”
“We clearly understand who is striving for peace and who is striving for war. Russia will try to seize all of Ukraine by other means, and ideally, to neutralize half of the ERA by military means. This will not work, but this does not mean that Putin will not try,” said diplomat Pisha.
