Starmer and Erdogan discuss war in Ukraine and London summit

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan have spoken by phone to discuss the military conflict between Russia and Ukraine, as well as the upcoming meeting of EU leaders in London.

This is stated in a press release from the UK government, as reported by Ukrinform.

Starmer briefed Erdogan on his recent visit to the US and stressed the importance of international cooperation to strengthen security in Europe.

“Discussing the conflict in Ukraine, the Prime Minister reaffirmed the UK's commitment to supporting Ukraine for as long as it takes to counter Russian aggression,” the statement said.

Starmer is expected to outline his goals at a summit of EU leaders in London on Sunday, March 2.

Downing Street confirmed the leaders had agreed to stay in touch.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, Starmer invited Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and more than ten European leaders to London to discuss security guarantees for Ukraine in the event of a ceasefire with Russia.
