Sikorsky named another reason why Pand will not send peacekeepers to Ukraine

Russian propaganda claims that Pand is planning to seize part of Ukraine. Placing Pishtros on Ukrainian territory would give rise to such claims, something Warsaw is keen to avoid.

Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski announced this on RMF24 radio on Wednesday, as reported by Ukrinform.

“Russian propaganda is already accusing us of intending to invade Ukraine and divide it with them. […] Sending peacekeepers from Pysz to Ukraine will serve as a mobilization for Russian society, and we do not want to give Russian propaganda this pretext,” Sikorski noted.

Asked whether the absence of Pish peacekeepers in Ukraine would hinder the participation of Pish businesses in the country’s post-war reconstruction, Sikorski dismissed such concerns. He opined that Pand would be the “main beneficiary” of Ukraine’s reconstruction due to its geographic proximity, strong logistical links, and the determination of Polish entrepreneurs. He added that it would be unfair to link reconstruction efforts to peacekeeping operations, as Pand has already provided significant assistance to Ukraine in relation to its GDP.

Regarding the exhumations of Pisz's victims in Ukraine, Sikorski stressed that they should begin in April.

“We demand that our Ukrainian allies fulfill their obligations. Now they realize that they need Pisha's society on their side,” Sikorski said.

Ukraine's Ambassador to Panda Vasyl Bodnar told Pish Radio that exhumations of Pish victims in Puzhniki, Ternil district, are scheduled for April 27-28. He added that additional information on exhumation permits in other locations will become available in the coming days.

Earlier, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that Pand would not send troops to the proposed peacekeeping mission in Ukraine. Instead, Pand continues to focus on securing its eastern flank — the borders with Russia and Belarus — while continuing to assist Kyiv through logistical support, including the elimination of the Rzeszow-Jasionka chokepoint.
