Czech Republic May Send Troops to Ukraine as Part of Peacekeeping Mission – Pavel

The Czech Republic is ready to participate in a foreign peacekeeping operation that would send troops to Ukraine, provided that a possible peace agreement is reached.

This was announced by the President of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel in an interview with the publication “European Pravda”, as reported by Ukrinform.

Pavel, discussing security guarantees for Ukraine, referred to the countries of the so-called “coalition of the willing” and emphasized that the Czech Republic is already part of this coalition.

He expressed confidence that as soon as the readiness to send this peacekeeping contingent is determined, the Czech Republic will take an active part.

Responding to skepticism in the Czech Republic about the deployment of peacekeeping forces in Ukraine, Pavel noted that different citizens may have different opinions.

However, he stressed that if there is a strong group of EU countries willing to provide security guarantees to Ukraine, the Czech Republic should be among them. He added that it may seem cliché, but he sincerely believes that such intervention is important for the Czech Republic itself.
