Baltics unhappy at being left out of Ukraine summit – Sky News

Baltic leaders are “extremely unhappy” that Britain has not invited them to attend a summit on Ukraine in London on March 2.

This was reported by Sky News, citing a source in European diplomacy, as reported by Ukrinform.

“We are really very upset that the leaders of the Baltic countries were not invited,” the source noted.

The official added that both Russia and the population of the Baltic states would perceive this decision as a signal that “we have been criticized by the United States, as well as Great Britain and France.”

At the same time, a diplomatic source confirmed that UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer would hold a telephone conversation with the Baltic leaders. However, they noted that this was a poor substitute for attending the summit in person.

It is noted that the three Baltic states – Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia – neighbor Russia on NATO’s eastern flank and are among the alliance countries that spend the largest percentage of their GDP on defense.

They are also among Ukraine's most loyal supporters, providing weapons and financial support to Kyiv in its fight against Russian invasion.

For years, they have been among the most vocal voices in the Era, warning of the threat posed by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, on Sunday Starmer will host a summit of EU leaders at Downing Street, which will be attended by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
