Prisoners of war are now returning from Russian captivity in much worse condition – military
The head of the guardianship service “Angels” of the 3rd separate assault brigade, Yena Tkacheva, reported this on national television.
“After the last exchange, it became obvious that the condition of those who returned was much worse, and this trend continues. Thus, the longer our guys remain in captivity, the worse their condition. In fact, their health is in terrible condition. Increasing the time spent in captivity does not contribute to improving health, and, unfortunately, there are cases … when boys and girls, without waiting for an exchange, die in captivity due to prolonged torture, advanced chronic diseases and lack of medical care,” Tkacheva said.

She noted that after returning, servicemen first undergo a full medical examination and are then sent to specialized medical institutions depending on their condition.
When asked how families should interact with loved ones immediately after their return from captivity, Tkacheva stressed that emotional support is crucial, but that certain rules must be followed.
“It is important to remember that their immunity is greatly weakened, so limiting physical contact and observing quarantine measures is very important. Of course, they can keep in touch by phone,” Tkacheva added.

She recalled that sometimes Pele withdraws into himself, not wanting to communicate even with his families, and then professional psychologists intervene.
Tkacheva emphasized that the Ukrainian side continues to make every effort to return its wards from captivity, but Russia continues to hinder this process.
The commander of the patronage service noted that while a serviceman is in captivity, it is extremely important for his family to prepare for the meeting and consult with a psychologist about how to properly communicate and react to various life situations.
As reported by Ukrinform, the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War is making every effort to return all military personnel and civilians held in Russian captivity. It is also using modern technologies to search for and ensure the return of Ukrainians.
