Minister believes that 70 percent of displaced Ukrainians will return after the end of the war

About 70% of Ukrainians may return from abroad, provided that appropriate changes and development occur in Ukraine.

This was announced by the Deputy Prime Minister, former Minister of National Unity Chernyshov in an interview with BBC Ukraine, as reported by Ukrinform.

According to the official, approximately 30% of compatriots are ready to return to Ukraine as soon as safe and stable conditions are established, and another 40% will make a decision based on Ukraine’s successes, its economic recovery, reconstruction and development.

“I would like to point out that the term “return of Ukrainians” is not entirely accurate. This is a choice that Ukrainians will make on their own. Our task is to be competitive, since we will be competing with other countries for these 40%,” Chernyshov explained.

The Vice Prime Minister noted that after the end of the war, the Ukrainian government will actively work on creating an economy, attracting investments, simplifying the tax burden and supporting business. That is, on liberalizing the market and ensuring security, which will really contribute to the rapid recovery of the country.

“This is what will create jobs, and this will motivate Ukrainians to return,” Chernyshov concluded.

As reported by Ukrinform with reference to Eurostat, as of January 31, about 4.3 million people who left Ukraine due to Russia's full-scale invasion received temporary protection status in EU member states.
