Total number of COVID-19 cases confirmed worldwide approaching 2.5 mln

The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the world was approaching 2.5 million patients as of the morning of April 21.

As many as 2,477,426 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases had been reported as of 07:00 Kyiv time on April 21, according to the Coronavirus COVID-19 Global Cases dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University.

The overall death toll is 170,324 people, while 647,632 coronavirus patients have already recovered.

The three countries most affected by the coronavirus pandemic include the United States (787,370 confirmed cases), Spain (200,210), and Italy (181,228).

The highest death toll was recorded in the United States (42,335 people), Italy (24,114), Spain (20,852), and France (20,292).

As of April 20, Ukraine reported 5,710 confirmed cases, including 151 deaths.
