SBU conducts search at Kyiv’s Eurolab medical center over concealment of positive coronavirus tests

The SBU will focus on violations of law related to the spread of coronavirus in Ukraine.

The SBU Security Service of Ukraine has conducted searches at Kyiv’s Eurolab medical center as part of the proceedings into possible concealment of data on positive coronavirus tests.

“The Main Investigative Department of the Security Service of Ukraine is investigating possible actions by officials of Eurolab Ltd. Contributing to the spread of the COVID-19 epidemic and causing harm to the health of Ukrainians,” the SBU said in a statement.

It is about the deliberate non-reporting to the relevant state bodies on positive coronavirus test results.

“On April 1, 2020, warranted searches were conducted at the premises of Eurolab Ltd. to establish all circumstances of this offense. Documents and materiel important for the investigation were seized. In the near future, seized documents will be analyzed with the involvement of health ministry experts, after which appropriate procedural decisions on criminal proceedings will be taken. Pretrial investigation is underway, all necessary investigative and search actions are being carried out and provided for by applicable law,” the SBU said.

The SBU says it will continue to pay special attention to any violations of law related to the spread of coronavirus in Ukraine, since today it is a “matter of national security”.

“We also consider it unacceptable when individuals who, through their actions endangered health and lives of many people, try to evade responsibility and shift the situation to a political plane,” the report says.
