Number of confirmed COVID-19 cases worldwide exceeds 2.2 mln

The number of confirmed coronavirus (COVID-19) cases worldwide has increased to 2,259,317.

The data as of 13:38 a.m. local time on April 18 was provided by the Coronavirus COVID-19 Global Cases dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University.

The top five countries with the highest number of confirmed cases were the United States with 706,779 cases, Spain with 190,839, Italy with 172,434, France with 149,130, and Germany with 141,397.

The total deaths stood at 154,694. The highest death tolls were reported in the United States (37,079), Italy (22,745 people), Spain (20,002), France (18,681), the United Kingdom (14,576), and Belgium (5,453).

Some 575,044 COVID-19 patients have already recovered.

As many as 185 countries have been affected by the virus.
