Leninsky, October, Ordzhonikidzevsky: more than a hundred ships will be renamed in Ukraine

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed a law on changing the names of local general courts as part of decommunization. The document provides for the renaming of 103 courts in Ukraine.

The Verkhovna Rada voted for amendments to the Law “On the Judiciary and the Status of Judges” on February 26, 2025. The initiative was supported by 248 people's deputies at that time. President Zelensky signed these amendments a month later – on March 25, 2025.

The norm on renaming was included in the final and transitional provisions of the law “On the Judiciary and the Status of Judges.”

So, in the regions they will rename:

  • Kirovsky District Court of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea – to Islamterek District Court of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea;
