He continues performing his duties remotely.

Chief of Kyiv’s police Andriy Kryshchenko has tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

“The epidemic is intensifying and spreading. In particular, three police officers and one police cadet have had their diagnosis for the coronavirus confirmed today. As Italy’s tragic experience shows, these are doctors and law enforcers who most often fall victim to the dangerous infection,” Deputy Interior Minister Anton Gerashchenko said on Facebook on March 27.

Among them is Andriy Kryshchenko, who also combines the duties of deputy chief of the National Police of Ukraine.

His condition is satisfactory, and he continues his work remotely, Gerashchenko said.

Police have identified those who were in contact with the patient during the incubation period. All of them have been informed about the potential risk of the disease, and they are self-isolating. The premises of Kyiv’s police headquarters have undergone deep cleaning.

“Important to mention is that the [Kyiv] police chief and his family members did not go abroad for the past month. Take care! Strictly observe the quarantine rules,” Gerashchenko added.
